Financial Breakthrough

There’s a Seinfeld episode where George realises that his decisions have led to his disappointing status of being bald, unemployed and still living with his parents. So Jerry says to George, “If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right.” And George decides to break his normal patterns of behaviour and make the opposite decisions instead, and of course success follows.

In business every dollar counts, especially when many SME’s have most of their working capital tied up with creditors and debtors, in inventory and some available cash. The balancing act of staying afloat while trying to build for the future can be very difficult. And when these situations start to get desperate, survival instincts typically say fight or flight.

The Apostle Paul in his second letter to the Corinthians says, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

Being generous and giving some of your money away in times of financial strain seems crazy, yet the Kingdom Administration principal of generosity suggests that the action of helping others while you need help, demonstrates a state of heart and mind linked to higher spiritual things. When we depend more on our Heavenly Father than our Bank Manager, financial breakthrough will come.
